An ongoing series of one-of-a-kind records
Desterronics is an open improvised electronic music community based in Lisbon. The weekly jam sessions have become a staple of the city’s nightlife, bringing together both aspiring and experienced musicians on a journey to the discovery of new rhythms and sounds.
The growing energy of these sessions sparked a desire to capture those sounds in a recording, leading to the release of the first Desterronics 7” in 2017. For this record, a couple of tracks were selected, and a limited number of Dubplates were cut. However, the community’s prolific musical output made choosing which tracks to feature on vinyl to become a challenge. This led to a novel idea:
If everyone wanted a different record, why not give everyone exactly what they wanted?
The Single Series Vol.1 marked the first collaboration between Desterronics and Lisbon Vinyl Cutters. Eighteen tracks were selected from hundreds of hours of recordings, and any two could be paired on a 7” vinyl, based on the buyer’s preference. Each record featured a unique piece of artwork on its label, making this release a true series of one-of-a-kind records.
This innovative model proved successful, leading to two more series, this time in a 12” format, allowing for more and longer tracks on vinyl.
The longstanding collaboration between Desterronics and LVC continues to thrive, with a new series of Desterronics cuts soon to be available to vinyl lovers everywhere.
